Foster Care system...

I met with a friend today who has been a Guardian ad litum (sp) for many years and she is so frustrated with the system that she is considering building a home for local foster care children. She has one little girl that is 9 years old and is on her 19th foster home. Now I know there are some great homes but given families get $3000 for some children, let's just say not everyone is in it for the love of a child. Anyway, I met with her about doing scrapbooking with the kids. Most don't have many pictures and the few they have are not in anything so I want to find a way to do scrapbooking with these kids. So if you have the opportunity this season, help out a foster care child, they could really use the help.

New additions to the clipboards

I decided to use the scraps from the clipboards to alter some composition books I bought for .10 at school supply time...I think they turned out pretty cute.

Now I just need to find pens to attach to the clipboards and I will be done!!

My new favorite toy

I bought one of those cheapy staplers for my toteally cool tote and I have struggled with it ever since. So when I was at Office depot the other day, I decided to try one of these babies out. It works fabulous. The toughest part is loading the staples into the stapler : )

We had our CTMH swap today. The items were so cute. The gal who did the deco squares did a great job but all the items were very fun. I absolutely love the paper especially since it is pink and brown.

I also used my Michaels 50% off for a brayer. I have heard they work great for getting the paper to go flat on your clipboard and then when I told my every so smart scrapbooking friend, Cecilia, she said it also works great for adhering your paper well to your mat for the cricut...what a smart girl!!

Almost done with 7 Christmas gifts...

I have been working on some clipboards to give as Christmas gifts. I have given these in the past and people seem to enjoy them so I made a list and started on a few this week and I am finishing up a few more. I just have to add the ribbon, I am hoping for a Michaels or Joanns ribbon sale. I have a lot of ribbon on hand but most of the clipboards are the same colors pink/brown so I won't have enough to do them all. I even made one for myself!! Now I am on the lookout for pink pads 8 1/2 by 11 so if you see any let me know. I want to add that to the gift and tie a pen to the clipboard as well. I will post a few when I get the ribbon on. Can't post the ones with names, someone might be watching!!

16 years ago today...

my niece was born...and my mother passed away. It was one of those moments where lives passed coming and going and that is always how I remember the day she died. But not to be a downer, I wanted to list the reasons I loved my mom so much:

1. She had an incredible love of life, very seldom did you not see her smile.
2. She was always doing for others, she would think of ways to help someone in need even if she herself was in need.
3. She was an awesome mother, so many fond memories I can't list them.
4. She was a talented crafter...she would just have LOVED scrapbooking and she would have had EVERY tool available !!
5. She had an incredible sense of adventure. Always willing to try something new.
6. She supported me in all my endevours, never once saying I couldn't do something.
7. She was on every committee or in charge of every organization she was involved in.
8. She would always skip lunch for a good dessert.
9. She never met a stranger.
10. She gave my my love of God and all things that last for eternity.

So when people who knew my mom say I am just like her, you can see why that makes me smile : )

Christmas shopping has began...

Well, not exactly shopping. I got out my notebook, made a list of everyone I will be giving gifts to and if I have an idea or a gift already in mind I made a notation. I was surprised by how quickly I was able to accomplish this task. I only have a few spaces where I really don't know what to look for . I also made 4 clipboards yesterday!! Well, I didn't finish them, I got the initial stage done, now the decorating part is next and that is the most fun for me. I also was able to order a few things for my scrapbooking friends ; )
The kids take the longest since they want every single item on tv and we only buy them 3 things from Santa and a few from mom and dad. Adam wants a Wii so his other items will be very small but Victoria is all over the board. I guess we should do a letter to Santa, that may clarify her needs!!

My color is Violet...

http://www.spacefem.com/quizzes/colors/showcolor.php?color=EE82EE&ad=1

Funny thing is, it doesn't mention much about my downside, like I am not very organized, I get impatient with people who are negative and see the glass as 1/2 empty instead of 1/2 full, I have trouble focusing on accomplishing one goal because I want to accomplish 10...ok, enough, you get the idea, all these glorious things they say about you are only 1/2 the picture..

But I am off to finish a few projects and hopefully post them back on the board today.

you are violet
#EE82EE

Your dominant hues are red and blue. You're confident and like showing people new ideas. You play well with others and can be very influential if you want to be.

Your saturation level is lower than average - You don't stress out over things and don't understand people who do. Finishing projects may sometimes be a challenge, but you schedule time as you see fit and the important things all happen in the end, even if not everyone sees your grand master plan.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.
